About the Experience
Hands-On Learning: Interactive exhibits, hands-on activities, and visual displays.
Exploration of Diverse Careers: Insights into various industries and career options.
Meeting Professionals: Connecting with individuals and companies who can provide guidance and information about various careers.
Our Purpose

In a society where definitions of success are often pre-packaged and handed down, rather than self-determined and self-directed, The Eagle Academy Foundation stands as a counterpoint. We understand that for the young men we serve, the horizon is not just distant but often obscured by systemic invisibilities. Our Career Pathways Expo is an act of revelation, a space where young minds encounter not prescriptions but possibilities, not set paths but horizons that expand in proportion to one's daring.
This endeavor recognizes the profound truth that ignorance is not simply a lack of knowledge but a condition imposed by environments that fail to show the full panoply of what one might be, what one might aspire to, what worlds one might construct for oneself. "When you know better, you do better," as articulated by our CEO Donald Ruff, Jr., captures more than a principle; it evokes a promise of awakening. The Expo is less an event and more a prism, refracting the singular light of each attendee's potential, hinting at the contours of worlds not yet mapped but surely reachable.
The wisdom of James Baldwin resonates deeply with our mission: "Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced." In the spirit of this truth, we don't just facilitate a journey; we propose an awakening. Here, young men are not mere participants in a pre-existing future; they are architects of their own, wielding the twin tools of knowledge and imagination. This isn't mere career planning; it's a summons to each individual's inner expanse, a call to inhabit, critically and creatively, the yet unauthored chapters of their lives. The Eagle Academy Foundation's Career Pathways Expo isn't a destination; it's an origin point for journeys yet uncharted.

Architecture & Construction
Construction and real estate are the backbone of New York City, a built environment unlike any other. As the primary regulator of these vital industries, the NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) helps provide housing and commercial space for our growing City, while promoting safety on construction sites and in the City's nearly 1.1 million buildings. Our goal is to strike the right balance between safety and development.
To further this mission, we will aggressively enforce the City's Construction Codes, Zoning Resolution, and the New York State Multiple Dwelling Law to protect workers and the public. In addition, we will ensure that DOB supports all New Yorkers, whether or not they work in the industries we regulate. While construction is necessary for the City's future, we will minimize the disruptions this work can cause by connecting with tenants, property owners, and other stakeholders throughout the City.
The Department promotes worker and public safety through its review and approval of building plans, permitting and licensing functions, and inspections. We are committed to providing efficient service to all New Yorkers by continuously assessing the equitable distribution of resources to meet the safety and permitting needs of residents across all five boroughs; enhancing the quality of life for all New Yorkers and making our City safer.
